Insurance Claims Duties of the Insured

The insured has a duty to promptly report any claims they are involved in to their insurance company. In addition, the insured has an obligation to cooperate with the insurance company in investigating any claim against the insured. Usually there is a cooperation clause in a liability policy. While not strictly part of claims’ duties, an insured has a duty to continue paying the policy premiums unless there are other arrangements made.
